Fast on the heels of her speaking engagement at the Hope in Healthcare Retreat (click to read our event report) in the Catskill Mountains April 23-26, Dr. Coleman and the Wellsmart team travelled to New York City for the 3 Women Transforming Healthcare panel at the Impact Hub on April 27, featuring Dr. Coleman in conversation with 2 other extraordinary women: Peggy Huddleston, author of Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster, and Robin Carnes, co-founder and executive director of Warriors At Ease. The moderator was Carey Davidson, founder and CEO of Tournesol Wellness.

NYC was in full bloom with its best spring dressings: tulips lined the streets, and cherry blossoms under a blue sky greeted us.  A welcome change after a long winter!

Our first stop after driving from the Catskills was to check out the vibrant Impact Hub on Broadway, and the site of the 3 Women Transforming Healthcare event.

We then continued to hit the ground running and set up the Wellsmart basecamp at the Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC.

Between speaking engagements, the Wellsmart crew relocated across the street from Tournesol Wellness in midtown Manhattan to film content for Wellsmart’s new online educational courses with an amazing NYC-based film crew, directed by Wellsmart team member Debrah Farentino.

In front of the majestic Morgan Library & Museum, Dr. Coleman brings the Wellsmart educational courses to life, teaching the science of compassion amongst the buzz of NYC.

Dr. Coleman also took the opportunity to record video versions of upcoming blog content inside the oasis that is Tournesol Wellness, in discussion with Founder and CEO, Carey Davidson. Tournesol offers acupuncture, massage, vibroacoustic therapy, and multiple experts teaching alternative medicine and mindfulness techniques in the heart of midtown.

Once the filming wrapped up, it was time to head over to the Impact Hub for the much-anticipated 3 Women Transforming Healthcare: From the Battlefields to Veterans and Beyond. This panel discussion was an inspiring evening hearing about how positive change for healthcare within the large systems of hospitals and the military are being pioneered by Dr. Coleman and her fellow panelists.

The importance and healing power of yoga, mind-body techniques and inspiration-driven medicine were the main topics, with fantastic audience participation. Some notable quotes included:
